Legend hold that the thieves, who were perfume and spice merchants, protected themselves during the Bubonic Plague in the 15th century by creating a special concoction of aromatic botanicals soaked in a cloth and worn over the nose. They were able to rob from the infected and dead without ever catching the highly infectious disease.

OY-L Hand Sanitizer is World Health Organization Formula 1 and also contains glycerin to soften and moisturize your skin. Unlike traditional hand sanitizers which use petroleum byproduct isopropyl alcohol, ours uses organic ethanol, a plant-derived alcohol that’s just as effective at killing germs.

Our Hand Sanitizer comes in three scents: Lemon, Lavender, and Spice. Spice features our “Thieves Oil” blend of clove, cinnamon, lemon, eucalyptus, rosemary, and lavender. Legend has it that this combo of oils was used during the bubonic plague to protect thieves while they stole from the sick. In any case, it smells delicious!
