This month, we launched our new Daily Glow Botanical Face Serum. If you know anything about us, you know that we pride ourselves on our motto, Beauty Without Secrets. Some of the ingredients in this serum are our best yet, and many of them are plant-based oils.
Oils are a natural component of healthy, thriving skin. Critical, actually. But like almost anything in life, too much of a good thing becomes a problem. The key is to use the right oils — ones that have healing properties to bring equilibrium and balance to your skin microbiome. A key term to judge whether an oil is “good” or not is comedogenic, which refers to the likelihood of a product clogging pores in the skin.
We’ve spent hours researching, testing, and learning which oils are truly non-comedogenic. Here is our comedogenic rating scale:
0 – Will not clog pores
1 – Extremely low risk
2 – Moderately low risk
3 – Moderate risk
4 – High risk
5 – Extreme risk
OY-L was founded with the intention of using non-comedogenic oil (OY-L, if you will) as its base. And our new serum is no exception. With four powerful oils, Daily Glow nurtures your skin and gives you a healthy glow with each use.
Hemp Seed Oil: Hemp seed oil is our holy grail here at OY-L. It soothes inflammation inside and outside the body and provides protection from oxidation and premature aging. It also regulates sebum production, which coats, moisturizes, and protects your skin. Not to mention, it also supports brain & heart health when taken as a supplement!
Comedogenic Rating: 0
Red Raspberry Seed Oil: This oil really packs a punch. It’s chock-full of A and E vitamins that cause healthy skin cell regeneration and growth. With regular use, these two vitamins work together to give us smoother and tighter skin while decreasing inflammation and redness levels. It also aids in enhancing collagen levels and reducing scars.
Comedogenic Rating: 0
Sacha Inchi Oil: The Sacha inchi contains some of the richest omega fatty acid content
of any plant variety. This oil helps to reduce pore size in the skin for a smoother, clearer complexion. It also reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while regulating oil production and locking moisture into the skin.
Comedogenic Rating: 0-1
Rosehip Oil: This ultra-hydrating oil is full of antioxidants and healthy fatty acids. It’s extremely mild, so it’s perfect for sensitive skin. But don’t be confused — its ability to soothe and nourish your skin is strong. Rosehip oil assists in collagen production while
brightening and evening skin tone. And if that wasn’t enough to convince you, it also helps to fade scarring and pigmentation.
Comedogenic Rating: 1
